Springfield Spanish AcademySpringfield is not only one of the largest cities in the state of Massachusetts; it also has a significant Spanish-speaking population. According to the U.S. Census, one third of Springfield’s total population of 150,000 claimed to be of Hispanic/Latino origin. Additionally, almost 30,000 Springfield citizens regularly speak Spanish in the home. Clearly, Springfield is a city in which knowing Spanish is a great advantage. Springfield area residents, both Spanish-speakers and learners, can explore Hispanic/Latino culture in many ways. There are social service organizations like Casa Latina, faith organizations like the Hispanic Baptist Church (413.731.8087), and popular restaurants like Casa de Nana and El Bohio (413.781.7700). Also, the Springfield City Library celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month every year by providing a thorough list of online and community resources, in addition to a substantial reading list for readers of all ages. These are only a few of the ways Springfield represents its Hispanic/Latino population. The Spanish-speaking population in Springfield will continue to grow, and the sooner your children start learning Spanish, the better!
